For more than 40 years, The Salvation Army\u2019s Carols in the Domain<\/em> has brought Australians together to celebrate Christmas and support people in need. For many of those years, OCS Australia has been part of the effort, helping make this much-loved community event possible.<\/p>\n

Each December, tens of thousands gather in Sydney\u2019s Domain \u2013 and millions watch from home \u2013 for an evening of music, light, and seasonal spirit. But behind the carols and candles lies a bigger purpose. Funds raised through the event support The Salvation Army\u2019s homelessness and community programmes, providing food, shelter, and vital services to people who need them most.<\/p>\n

A key part of the event is the Candle Bag programme. Every year, thousands of Candle Bags are sold for $25 each, filled with small festive treats. All proceeds go directly to The Salvation Army to support families in need at Christmas. Collectively, the initiative has raised millions of dollars over the years, helping the Salvos continue their mission of \u2018Giving Australians A Joyous Christmas\u2019, targeting those doing it tough in our communities.<\/p>\n

Ahead of the 43rd Carols in the Domain, to be held on Saturday, 20 December 2025<\/strong>, Sandeep Chhikara, HR Manager \u2013 Australia, joined other volunteers from across Sydney to help prepare for the night \u2013 packing 1,360 Candle Bags ready for the event.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt was good to roll up our sleeves and do something useful,\u201d says Sandeep. \u201cYou could feel everyone was there for the same reason \u2013 to help others. It\u2019s something I look forward to every year!\u201d<\/p>\n

Supporting The Salvation Army\u2019s Christmas initiatives is one way our people put their values into action. Whether caring for customers or lending a hand in the community, our colleagues share the same goal \u2013 making people and places the best they can be.<\/p>\n
