A pile of discarded wood might look like waste. For Ardiansyah, it became an opportunity to solve a problem.<\/p>\n

At one of OCS Indonesia\u2019s power plant customer sites in Central Java, several Health and Safety information boards were sitting unused in a warehouse. The boards were ready to be displayed, but the customer\u2019s HSE team had been struggling to install them.<\/p>\n

Ardi noticed the problem and offered to help.<\/p>\n

Adapting to the needs of the workplace<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ardi works as a General Service colleague, moving between areas of the site to support daily operations and customer requests. Working across the site has given him a good understanding of how different areas operate, as well as the challenges that can arise in day-to-day work.<\/p>\n

It has also taught him to pay attention to what is happening around him.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n \u201cThis role gave me both challenges and opportunities to understand the workplace better. I also have the opportunity to offer solutions to problems that people may otherwise overlook.\u201d <\/p>\n

When Ardi saw the unused safety boards, he looked for a practical way to get them installed.<\/p>\n

The site had a number of wooden pallets left over from machinery deliveries. Some were still in good condition, so Ardi saw an opportunity to reuse the wood to make frames for the boards.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

With his colleagues, he selected suitable pieces, measured them to fit the boards and assembled the frames using a drill. His experience making wooden equipment at home also come in handy.<\/p>\n

Together, they made six frames, which the HSE team placed at strategic locations around the site. The safety messages could now be displayed where people could easily see them, while the unused pallet wood had been given a practical purpose.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n \u201cThe HSE safety messages are now more visible and easier for everyone to access. Change doesn\u2019t happen overnight, but these reminders are now in place where they can truly make a difference in the workplace.\u201d <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

Care as the foundation of respect<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Ardi\u2019s initiative earned him recognition in the Respect category of OCS Indonesia\u2019s TRUE Star Programme. He had previously received the Empowerment category for creating a precast U-Ditch bridge that made access to the garden area safer for workers.<\/p>\n

For Ardi, Respect goes beyond how we treat other people. It also means paying attention to what is happening around us, caring about safety, and taking action when we can help.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n \u201cFor me, Respect starts with caring about the problems around us. By offering solutions and taking action, we can help others while also caring for our workplace.\u201d <\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n
