These awards honour those who bring our values to life in their mahi, making people and places the best they can be.<\/p>\n<p>From a pool of outstanding nominees, four colleagues (and teams) were recognised as our 2024 annual OCS TRUE Stars:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Trust<\/strong>: <em>Sarin Dhungana<\/em>, Australia \u2014 recognised for his dedication, leadership, and willingness to relocate across the country to support a site in need.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Respect<\/strong>: <em>Pamela Parker<\/em>, Nelson \u2014 acknowledged for her attention to detail, proactive communication, and consistent professionalism.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Unity<\/strong>: <em>The Massey University (Wellington) Team<\/em>\u00a0\u2014 praised for their teamwork and commitment to quality service during challenging conditions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Empowerment<\/strong>: Corrina Walker, 1M \u2014 commended for her agility and support across multiple areas of the business.<\/p>\n<p>From these four outstanding recipients, one was selected as the OCS ANZ TRUE Star of the Year.<\/p>\n<p>We\u2019re delighted to announce Pamela Parker (Pam) as this year\u2019s winner.<\/p>\n<p>Pam works at Nelson Airport and is known for her hard work and her compassion, humour, and positive outlook. She joined OCS in 2020 and has made a lasting impression on her colleagues, customers, and the travelling public ever since.<\/p>\n<p>Estelle Courtney, National QA Manager, says the OCS team describe her as \u2018genuine, thoughtful, and kind.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe\u2019s extremely loyal, honest, and quietly committed. She just gets on with the job \u2014 not for praise, but because she holds herself to a high standard. We\u2019re lucky to have her.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The team at Air New Zealand also value Pam\u2019s proactive approach. In an email to OCS, their Nelson Airport Manager wrote:<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe appreciate how helpful and communicative Pam is. Every week she raises things she\u2019s noticed \u2014 from ways to reduce waste, to small safety issues, to taps running in the lounge toilets. It\u2019s these little things that help us all do better. We\u2019re grateful for Pam\u2019s continuous improvement mindset.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Asked what the award means to her, Pam said, \u201cIt means a lot \u2013 it shows that no matter how behind-the-scenes it might seem, even the quiet jobs matter, and that what we do every day has value.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Her perspective reflects the pride Pam takes in her work, keeping public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming \u2014 not just as a cleaner, but as part of the broader airport team.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou get people coming up to the kiosk looking a bit lost, and sometimes they ask questions or just need a bit of reassurance,\u201d she says. \u201cThere\u2019s a bit of banter, a bit of fun \u2014 and you just try to make their day a little easier in your own way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pam knows the work can sometimes be repetitive, but that doesn\u2019t bother her. \u201cSome people might say you\u2019re doing the same thing every day. I just want to do it better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Estelle says that attitude is typical of Pam. \u201cShe leads by example \u2014 not by being loud or showy, but just by quietly doing her best every single day. She brings steadiness, kindness, and humour to the team, and our site is better for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Pam is a reminder that it\u2019s not just what we do, but how we do it that matters.
