OCS contributed to industry roundtable discussions (led by Custom Fleet) on fleet decarbonisation, alongside government and sector leaders, drawing on experience managing a national fleet across varied operating environments. Moving to lower-emissions fleets isn\u2019t solved by vehicle choice alone.<\/p>\n

Charging infrastructure, cost pressures and how vehicles are used each day all shape what organisations can realistically adopt. Gareth Marriott, OCS Managing Director, noted: \u201cScandinavia shows what happens when you invest in infrastructure first \u2013 it gives people the confidence to switch. In New Zealand, we\u2019ll need the same approach if we want business and households to commit to EVs at scale.\u201d<\/p>\n

Across Aotearoa, limited public charging remains a constraint. Progress depends on coordinated investment and a clear pathway for businesses expected to transition at scale.<\/p>\n

Within our operations, OCS has focused on improving the performance of the existing fleet. The use of telematics has provided clear visibility of vehicle use, supporting a 31 per cent reduction in fuel consumption alongside improved driver behaviour and safety outcomes.<\/p>\n

Better data allows better decisions. It reduces unnecessary travel, improves utilisation and supports more accurate planning.<\/p>\n

For OCS, fleet decarbonisation is a staged process, built on measured changes that maintain service reliability while preparing for wider shifts in technology and infrastructure.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
