Taking on the Challenge Together<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Over the weekend, 16 colleagues from across OCS conquered the Snowdon Challenge in support of the <\/span>OCS Foundation<\/span><\/a>.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Representing\u00a0a\u00a0range of sectors,<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>from<\/span>\u00a0<\/span>Cleaning<\/a> and frontline Security<\/a> to <\/span>Private Sector<\/a> contracts, <\/span>the team took on Wales\u2019 highest mountain to raise funds and awareness for the OCS Foundation<\/a>, whose mission is to support organisations which give young people across the UK & Ireland the opportunities to thrive. <\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

While each colleague had\u00a0their own reason for taking part, they share\u00a0a\u00a0common goal: supporting the Foundation\u2019s work to create opportunities, improve wellbeing and make a positive difference in communities.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n The Snowdon Challenge is a great example of colleagues coming together from across OCS to support a shared cause. It\u2019s about teamwork, determination, and making a positive difference through the OCS Foundation. I\u2019m proud to see so many colleagues taking part, supporting one another, and helping raise funds that will have a lasting impact on the communities we serve. <\/p>\n

More than a Fundraising Challenge<\/h3>\n

Behind every fundraising challenge is a personal story.<\/p>\n

For some colleagues, Snowdon represented an opportunity to support causes that have directly touched their lives. Stephen Woods<\/a>, Regional Manager, Private Sector FM, is particularly touched by foundation partner Scotty\u2019s Little Soldiers<\/a>, a charity that provides support to bereaved military children and their families. As a former serving British Army soldier, Stephen has experienced the loss of friends during service and beyond, making the charity\u2019s work particularly meaningful.<\/p>\n

Operations Support Manager Jayne Reeves<\/a> shares a similar connection. Through her links to the Armed Forces community<\/a>, she has seen the impact that loss can have on military families and understands the need to ensure children receive the support they need. Alongside this, she has spent the past four years undergoing treatment for cancer and has experienced first-hand the difference charities can make during difficult times.<\/p>\n

Together, their experiences reflect a wider theme across the team. The challenge was not only to raise funds, but also to support organisations that provide hope and practical help to those who need it most.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n \u201cScotty’s Little Soldiers provides incredible support to bereaved military children and their families, helping them navigate some of the most challenging times in their lives. Supporting Future Generations<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

The OCS Foundation\u2019s focus on supporting children and young people is another powerful motivation behind the challenge.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Across OCS, many colleagues work in schools<\/a>, communities<\/a>, and public spaces<\/a> where they see, every day, how encouragement, support, and opportunity can shape a young person\u2019s future. Whether through education, wellbeing initiatives or community\u00a0programmes, the\u00a0Foundation\u00a0supports partners that help create\u00a0opportunities\u00a0that\u00a0can have a lasting impact on children, young\u00a0people\u00a0and their families.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For colleagues such as\u00a0<\/span>Natalie Redington<\/a> and\u00a0<\/span>Zoe Scheepers<\/strong>,<\/strong> that connection resonates strongly. Through their work and experiences, they understand the importance of helping young people access opportunities that allow them to thrive.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Their reasons for taking part may be personal, but the outcome is shared. Every step taken up Snowdon\u00a0will\u00a0help support initiatives that create positive opportunities for others.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

One Mountain, Many Motivations<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Alongside the charitable purpose, the challenge also\u00a0represents\u00a0a personal milestone for many of those\u00a0who took\u00a0part.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Some colleagues have had climbing Snowdon on their bucket list for years.\u00a0<\/strong><\/span>Gina Rowbery<\/a>\u00a0<\/span><\/b>has<\/span> long wanted to complete the climb, while Government Facilities Manager\u00a0<\/span>Deana Lamb<\/a>,\u00a0saw\u00a0the challenge as an opportunity to achieve a personal goal while supporting a cause close to her heart.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Others combined a passion for the outdoors with the opportunity to give something back. Retail <\/span>Mobile Supervisor,\u00a0Natalia Banaszek<\/span><\/b>, who enjoys hiking and spending time in nature, saw\u00a0the challenge as a natural way to support the Foundation while doing something she loves.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

For many participants, the climb\u00a0was\u00a0also about stepping outside their comfort zone and proving what can be achieved through determination and teamwork.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

From Catering Teams to Mountain Trails<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Among the colleagues\u00a0who took\u00a0part are sisters\u00a0<\/span>Toni Roberts<\/span><\/b>\u00a0and\u00a0<\/span>Zoe Scheepers<\/span><\/b> from Angel Hill Food Co.<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n

Both work within\u00a0<\/span>education catering<\/span><\/a>\u00a0in Shropshire, supporting schools and local communities every day. Zoe is a Chef Manager supporting primary and Special Educational Needs settings, while Toni is a Catering Manager within a secondary school just a few minutes away. Between them, they have almost two decades of experience across OCS catering services.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Outside work, they are also regular training partners. Over the years, they have completed half marathons, local running\u00a0events\u00a0and countless training sessions together, balancing busy careers and family life while encouraging each other to keep going.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The idea of climbing Snowdon had been discussed for years before the OCS Foundation challenge was announced. When the opportunity finally arrived, it gave them the chance to combine something they had always wanted to achieve with supporting a cause they care about.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Like many of their fellow participants, they approached the challenge as an opportunity to push themselves, spend time together and contribute to something larger than the climb itself.<\/p>\n <\/div>\n <\/div>\n <\/section>\n\n\n

\n \u201cWe\u2019ve done a lot together over the years, from half marathons to family walks, so taking on Snowdon felt like the next adventure. Having each other there makes a big difference, and knowing we\u2019re raising money for a worthwhile cause gives the challenge even more meaning,\u201d <\/p>\n

The event\u00a0demonstrates\u00a0how colleagues from different sectors,\u00a0contracts\u00a0and regions\u00a0came\u00a0together behind a common cause, supporting communities while building new connections across the business.<\/span>\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n
