We were honoured to host the Soft Launch of the VOCIFY Green Apprenticeship Programme on Wednesday, 10 September, together with OCS Indonesia’s valued customers and partners from selected industries. The event brought together voices from business, government, and international organisations, all underscoring the urgency of equipping Indonesia’s youth with practical skills, resilience, and opportunities for the future.
“There are two pathways to success: formal education, which builds knowledge, and TVET, which develops skills. Through VOCIFY, young talent can gain the skills that open doors to more opportunities in their future.”
Yohanes Jeffry Johary
Managing Director OCS Indonesia
His words reflected VOCIFY’s vision as a pathway to inclusion, mobility, and opportunity.
Summer Xia, British Council’s Country Director Indonesia & Southeast Asia Clustering, celebrated VOCIFY as a model that blends hands-on workplace training with internationally recognised UK certification, making skills relevant locally and valuable globally.
Jonathan Ledger, Professional Bodies Specialist & UK Skills Partnership Lead at the UK Department for Business and Trade, emphasised that “Skills are an investment with business value, where vocational education should be central, not second-rate.” His message reinforced the importance of lifelong learning and employer-driven skills development.
Shaanti Shamdasani, President & Regional Chief Economist of SAIAC and Deputy Chair of KADIN’s Committee on International Cooperation, highlighted that “Skills development alone is not enough; it must be grounded in attitude and character building; the bridge that connects knowledge with skills and forms the true foundation for growth.”
Michael Arlantis, Head of Talent Branding & Outreach at OCS Indonesia, explained how VOCIFY “combines off-site learning and on-the-job training in parallel, while embedding attitude, character building, and integrity across the entire system, process, infrastructure, and supervision.” This blended approach ensures that youth are not only work-ready, but future-ready.
“Investing in people means investing in Indonesia’s future. By scaling this programme together with business partners who share our vision and purpose, we can create broader impact for customers, industries, and communities alike.”
Erwin Bernhard
Chief Xperience Officer
These insights came to life through our pilot apprentices in the automotive industry, who shared their journeys of growth; showing how training, mentorship, and opportunity can unlock potential, build confidence, and transform futures.
We extend heartfelt thanks to all speakers, customers, and partners who joined us. This is the beginning of a broader mission: to scale vocational excellence, bring policymakers and industries closer together, and ensure Indonesia becomes a leader in skills development for a sustainable future.
