A small idea can spark significant change when people comes together to make it happen. This spirit of collaboration shines through in Ananda Yoga Prananta’s journey as he unites community to stand up and take action.
Nanda works as a cleaner at one of OCS Indonesia’s customers factory in Pasuruan, East Java. Yet his contribution goes far beyond his daily duties. By leading a CSR initiative that supports the community around our customer’s operational area, he has shown what it means to live out ESG values in everyday life.
The spirit of unity
When Nanda was asked to lead OCS’s joint CSR activity with our customer, he began listening. As a local resident, he understood that making a difference starts with understanding what people really need. He wanted to ensure the programme would create lasting social impact and environmental value.
With a team of volunteers, Nanda organised a series of initiatives to revitalise a neglected village park. Together, they planted Cavendish banana trees to provide both shades and future harvests for local residents. They also donated ornamental plants to brighten the space and naturally refresh the air.
More than 100 people joined the effort, including OCS colleagues, customer representatives and local residents, all working together for a clean-up. To make the event more memorable, Nanda’s team arranged door-prize giveaways and shared a meal afterwards, strengthening the sense of togetherness and pride within the community.
“Everyone welcomed our ideas with enthusiasm, so we were able to make it happen together. The park is still cared for today, giving a pleasant space for residents and customers to enjoy.”

Cleaner OCS Indonesia
What began as a simple clean-up became a shared achievement, uniting people of all ages — from children to adults — who eagerly participated and embraced the effort to improve their environment.
Building awareness for people and planet
Throughout his CSR work, Nanda focused on initiatives that embody sustainable ESG principles. He realises that preserving the planet goes hand in hand with protecting people.
“It’s important for every industry to prioritise ESG, even through small steps like what we started here. By protecting the environment, we’re also protecting human life.”
This mindset extends well beyond his work. At home, Nanda continues to live sustainably, planting trees and maintaining a small garden in his free time. The greenery helps cool the surroundings, especially with the extreme weather in his neighbourhood. For Nanda, sustainability is not just a campaign or a project. It’s part of life and a way to show care for others and the environment we live in.
Perseverance that leads to achievement
Nanda approaches his daily work with sincerity and determination. Despite a demanding schedule, he managed to complete his bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering while working full-time. His perseverance and belief reflect that learning never stops.
“Education is as important as work. The more we learn, the more we can contribute and help others take care of our future together.”
His dedication was recognised when he received the OCS Indonesia TRUE Star Award in the Unity category, celebrating his role in driving the joint CSR programme with our customer a success.
“In many places, you just work with no real acknowledgement. At OCS, we’re seen and supported through awards, training, and so on. Those appreciations motivate us to keep learning and improving.”
Nanda’s story shows that sustainability begins with individuals who care enough to act. He proves that when people come together with shared purpose, they can strengthen communities, restore nature, and create greener spaces for everyone.
“Let’s stay motivated in everything we do and never give up.”
