A Small Fix that Makes The Works Run Better: Aep’s Inspiring Story

Curiosity and a willingness to keep learning are something that nurture skill. With this mindset, our technician Aep Saepul, found an inspiring way to give new life to a broken computer, turning it into something useful for his team.

A journey of persistence and learning

Aep’s passion for learning new things hasn’t faded over the years. He’s proof that it’s never too late to pick up new skills. He started out as a cleaner at an educational facility and is now trusted as a technician with OCS Indonesia.

Aep learned by paying attention and putting what he saw into practice. While working, he often watched technicians do repairs and asked questions to understand the process. Gradually, his curiosity turned into capability and opportunity soon followed.

“For me, being willing to try is both an opportunity and a good experience. I’ve always been eager to learn, trying new things, and I’m never embarrassed to ask questions. That’s what helped me grow at OCS until today.”

Now, Aep looks after many of the site’s technical needs, from checking electrical systems to ensuring the air conditioning and other equipment work properly. His careful approach helps the workday go smoothly.

Through training and support from OCS Indonesia, Aep continues to strengthen his skills. Continuous learning not only improves his work but also encourages him to find better ways of doing things.

Making old equipment useful again

Aep’s initiative began  when he applied what he learned about sustainability and circular economy practices during training. He noticed several unused computers piling up in a storage room and worked with the cleaning team to sort them out. After checking each one carefully, he found a computer that could be repaired and reused.

With approval from the customer and help from the IT team to install the necessary software, he managed to get it working again. The computer now helps the OCS team prepare reports more easily, saving time and increase productivity. It also supports OCS’s commitment to reducing waste and using resources more wisely.

“I wanted to use what I’d learned about the circular economy. Now, our team can use the computer for learning and reporting. It feels good to see how a small fix can make our works better!”

Recognising respect in action

Aep’s effort not only improved his workplace but also earned him the TRUE Star Award in the Respect category. The award recognises his creativity, initiative, and care for his work and the environment.

As he continues to grow in his role, Aep stays humble and keen to share his knowledge, encouraging others to keep learning too.

“Never stop learning or feel shy to ask questions! Keep exploring new ideas and make the most of what we learn from our trainers so we can keep improving together.”

Through his curiosity and persistence, Aep shows how small actions can lead to lasting improvement, turning what was once waste into a tool for progress.
