OCS Indonesia Participates in the UK Skills Mission in Semarang

We were honoured to represent OCS Indonesia at the UK Skills Mission in Central Java, hosted by the UK in Indonesia – British Embassy Jakarta in Semarang, in late October. Opened by HE Dominic Jermey, British Ambassador to Indonesia and Timor-Leste, and joined by the Provincial Government of Central Java, the event brought to life how the UK–Indonesia Strategic Partnership is advancing through education, skills development, and human capital collaboration.

Central Java is emerging as Indonesia’s new industrial and human capital hub, a region where manufacturing, logistics, and agribusiness converge with one of the nation’s largest youth populations. As President Prabowo Subianto sets the ambition of achieving 8% annual economic growth, the path forward lies in upskilling the workforce, expanding employability, and creating economic opportunities for over 180 million young Indonesians projected to shape the nation by 2045. Building talent where industries thrive, like in Central Java, is essential for sustaining competitiveness and social mobility.

This is where OCS Indonesia’s VOCIFY Green Skills and Apprenticeship Programme makes a tangible impact. It bridges education and employment through a private-to-private model that integrates classroom learning, hands-on experience, and character development. Designed around real operational needs, the programme equips young Indonesians not only with technical skills but also with the mindset, professionalism, and integrity needed to thrive in a fast-transforming economy.

Our pilot apprenticeships in the manufacturing, automotive, and logistic sectors are already demonstrating results, helping young workers build confidence, discipline, and aspirations for lifelong learning. It’s a model of how business-led collaboration can complement government ambition: aligning productivity, inclusivity, and sustainability in one movement.

We extend our sincere appreciation to the British Embassy Jakarta for championing UK–Indonesia skills collaboration. Together, we are investing in Indonesia’s most valuable resource, its people, ensuring that as the nation grows stronger, its workforce grows with it.
