Fun Learning, Stronger Unity: How Enggar’s Teaching Session Connects Community

Enggar Prasetyo spends her days making sure everything stays clean. She leads team of twenty cleaners at a food and beverage manufacturing facility in Pasuruan, East Java, where hygiene standards are strict and every surface matters. In her world, even a small oversight can make a difference.

Last year, she began noticing something beyond the production space. Every Friday, local primary school children would arrive for weekly learning sessions organised by OCS Indonesia customer at the facility. Some came on bicycles, others walked together in small groups. They were energetic, curious, and sometimes a little shy.

As she watched them, Enggar realised that many of the children were still unfamiliar with basic hygiene habits. It stayed on her mind and she started thinking, maybe there was something she could share.

From production space to classroom

Eventually, she approached our customer with an idea. What if she ran a hands-on cleaning session for the children. Nothing complicated, just practical lessons they could use every day.

She wanted to show them how to wash their hands properly, how to sweep and mop, and how to dust a room. She also planned to teach them how to sort waste, explaining the difference between organic and inorganic materials and why that matters. Our customer welcomed the idea.

Soon, Enggar found herself standing in front of a classroom full of curious faces. Now, she works alongside our customer to run lively sessions each week. They use short videos, simple songs and small quizzes, sometimes with little rewards to keep things exciting.

“It’s just small things like wash your hands properly, or put rubbish in the right bin. If they get used to it now, it becomes a habit.”

Lessons from unity

Enggar’s initiative received strong encouragement from our customer and strengthened the collaboration between the company, schools, and the local community. Her willingness to step forward reflects the spirit of Unity at OCS, by working together to create meaningful impact.

“Growth starts with willingness, and unity makes it possible. This programme gives back to the community while inspiring me to develop my own skills.”

Enggar’s commitment was recognised with the OCS Indonesia True Star Programme in the Unity category. She was surprised as she had not been aiming for recognition. She simply wanted to share what she knew and help children take better care of their surroundings.

She believes that if we keep learning and keep contributing, recognition will follow naturally. But even if it doesn’t, the impact still remains.
