Ramadan at OCS Indonesia: Embracing Kindness, Fostering Unity, and Inspiring Reflection

Time moves on, but the spirit of Ramadan stays with us as a time of blessings, generosity, and forgiveness. It’s a moment that hold meaning for many, including our colleagues at OCS Indonesia.

Ramadan is more than just fasting; it’s a journey of self-awareness, fostering respect, and strengthening our sense of community. It also reflects our OCS TRUE values—Unity. Through shared experiences, Ramadan brought our colleagues closer together, reinforcing the importance of connection and collective growth. Though the month has passed, its lessons remain, inspiring us to carry that spirit of unity and compassion into our daily lives.

We Share, We Care

Ramadan encourages compassion and respect for others. These values came to life at OCS Indonesia’s Iftar Gathering on Friday, March 21, where we spent meaningful time with children from Yayasan Daarul Fattaah Assalafi, an orphanage in Depok, West Java.

Through small yet heartfelt acts of kindness, we aimed to connect with the community by bringing joy, comfort, and a sense of belonging. Ramadan reminds us that true empowerment comes from lifting others, creating bonds in empathy and shared humanity.

Adding to the occasion, our Managing Director, Yohanes Jeffry Johary, delivered a heartfelt message, emphasising the lasting impact of generosity and the importance of growth, both for the children and our colleagues.

“Ramadan teaches us the power of giving and the value of continuous learning. Education is a tool that empowers the next generation to pursue their dreams, just as growth and self-improvement help us move to the next level together at OCS Indonesia.”

Fostering Unity through Togetherness

Ramadan is a time to strengthen connections and foster unity. This spirit was reflected in the many activities across OCS Indonesia during the holy month, bringing colleagues together to share meaningful moments.

At the Head Office, a vibrant iftar gathering created an atmosphere of warmth and camaraderie. Divisions also held their own celebrations, including HR Iftar, where our HR Director, Meindi Firmansyah, shared words of gratitude, highlighting the importance of appreciation and teamwork.

Across regions, colleagues also embraced Ramadan spirit of togetherness in their own ways. Our female colleagues from Finance joined the viral ‘War Hampers’ trend, exchanging thoughtful gifts and sharing laughter. A simple yet joyful moment that strengthen friendships and made Ramadan even more special.

Respecting Ourselves, Inspiring Reflection

Ramadan offers a perfect opportunity for self-reflection. Beyond fasting and shared moments, it encourages mindfulness and a deeper awareness of our well-being.

Many of our colleagues embraced this by staying active and maintaining a healthy balance. Through regular exercise and mindful eating, they demonstrated self-respect whilst prioritising their physical and mental health. This commitment was evident in their participation in the HR Health Programme.

One inspiring example is Rahmaan Sediaz, our QHSE Specialist, who covered nearly 200 km during Ramadan through a mix of gym workouts, running, and high-intensity interval training (HIIT). His dedication reflects resilience, discipline, and the ability to stay motivated even while fasting.

For Diaz, exercise goes beyond fitness but also about self-awareness. By recognising his own limits and strengths, he finds balance, improves focus and stress-free, as well as enhances his overall well-being, both personally and professionally.

As we move forward, may the spirit of Ramadan continue to inspire us to show kindness, strengthen unity, and prioritise self-respect in our daily lives.
