The Bracelet in the Car Park: How Komang Chose to Do the Right Thing

I Komang Juliantara spotted a 10-gram gold bracelet lying in the car park. No one was around, but he knew what to do.

Komang is our security colleague at a campus facility in Denpasar, Bali. When a campus staff member reported the bracelet missing, he searched the areas where the bracelet might have been accidentally dropped, including the field and car park. Less than an hour later, he found it.

He immediately contacted the Building Manager and reported the discovery, following the proper procedure to secure the bracelet and return it to its owner.

“I have to protect the reputation and integrity of my workplace, both for myself and the company.”

I Komang Juliantara

Security Officer at OCS Indonesia

The decision was easy. Honesty is part of doing his job well, whether someone is watching or not.

The people side of security

Before joining OCS Indonesia, Komang worked in the F&B and tourism sectors. Those experiences shaped how he interacts with people and approaches his responsibilities as a Security Officer.

He believes security work requires firmness, but that does not mean being unapproachable. A simple greeting can make visitors feel more comfortable and create a more welcoming environment. These small interactions are part of taking pride in his role and treating the people around him with respect.

“It takes time to build trust, so we must protect it through honesty and integrity. When people trust you, it creates opportunities and opens the way for the future.”

Building trust every day

Komang’s actions helped resolve the incident and strengthen the customer’s trust. His commitment to honesty and integrity also earned him recognition through OCS Indonesia’s TRUE Star Programme in the Trust category.

The recognition also reflects the support of his team and the values he strives to uphold in his work, to doing the right thing.

“Honesty should always come first because it will shape the path we take in the future. Whatever our role, let’s keep doing our best and build a culture of honesty.”

For Komang, the bracelet was simply something that needed to find its way back to its owner. His response reflects the honesty and responsibility he brings to his work every day.
