Learning Together, Growing Stronger: How Wellbeing Builds Resilience

When people talk about wellbeing, they often focus on physical health. Staying active matters, but mental and social wellbeing are just as important. Without them, pressure can build and everyday challenges become harder to manage.

That is why the Wellbeing pillar during OCS Resilience Week 2026 goes beyond promoting healthy lifestyles. It focuses on creating a workplace where people can learn, collaborate, and grow together. When people feel supported, valued, and confident in their roles, resilience strengthens.

Why wellbeing matters for resilience?

Everyone faces challenges at work and in life. Looking after physical, mental, and social wellbeing helps people stay healthy, focused, and productive even when unexpected situations arise.

“Building resilience is a shared responsibility. Organisations can provide support and opportunities, but individuals also need to take an active role by learning, looking after their wellbeing, and managing stress well. When we invest in our own development, we strengthen our ability to overcome challenges and contribute more to the organisation.”

Learning helps people adapt, make informed decisions, and respond effectively to challenges. That makes continuous development a key part of resilience.

The workplace also plays a role in shaping wellbeing. When people feel comfortable speaking openly, asking questions, learning from one another, they gain confidence and feel more supported. Mentoring creates space for people to share knowledge, learn from experience, and build trusted connections. These everyday interactions help individuals and teams adapt and remain resilient over time.

Learning and growing together

At OCS Indonesia, supporting wellbeing means creating opportunities for people to learn and develop. These do not always come from formal programmes. Often, simple habits practised consistently make the biggest difference.

For our frontline colleagues, daily briefings are more than a routine start to the day. They provide time to share updates, exchange information, strengthen teamwork, and reinforce safe working practices.

We also offer development programmes that help colleagues build new skills and progress in their careers. Our cadetship programme prepares colleagues for future roles and responsibilities. Meanwhile, the VOCIFY Green Skills Apprenticeship Programme equips participants with green skills and internationally recognised vocational competencies, while strengthening character and promoting circular economy practices for a more sustainable world of work.

Colleagues can access learning at any time through our online platform. From cleaning and hospitality to service standards, colleagues can develop their knowledge and skills needed to succeed in their roles.

For our office-based teams, training and leadership programmes support both professional and personal growth. Initiatives such as the OCS BEST Club, through its weekly English sessions, create a collaborative learning environment where colleagues can learn from one another, strengthen communication skills, and build confidence.

“Resilience is more than just a slogan. By learning continuously, both in the classroom and through real life-experiences on site, we strengthen our ability to adapt, grow, and overcome challenges. It all begins with staying grounded in OCS TRUE Values in everything we do.”

Stronger together

Resilience grows when people feel supported, connected, and able to keep learning. Wellbeing builds confidence and stability, while mentoring encourages learning and trusted relationships. Together, they help people adapt and grow, strengthening resilience across teams, workplaces, and organisations.
