FM Indonesia Forum 2026 convened leaders from government, business and the facilities management (FM) sector to advance capability, governance and operational standards across Southeast Asia’s built environment. The Forum, held at Shangri‑La Jakarta, brought together policy makers, workplace strategists, asset owners, service providers and technology partners to address the next wave of FM requirements across the region.
The theme, “The Next Wave of Facility Management in Indonesia: Elevating Workplaces, Embracing AI, ESG, and Inclusivity,” focused on what strong FM looks like in practice; how leadership decisions translate into consistent on‑site delivery, including service quality, asset reliability, workplace experience and long‑term sustainability outcomes.
A Significant Step in ASEAN’s FM Professionalisation
This year’s Forum marked the formal introduction of the International Facility Management Association (IFMA) to Indonesia and the first IFMA‑supported FM forum in the country. The event was held under a Memorandum of Understanding between IFMA Global and OCS Indonesia, signalling a broader regional commitment to strengthening capability, training and global alignment within the FM profession.
Knowledge partners such as CastleAsia, AmCham Indonesia and BritCham Indonesia supported the programme, helping build cross‑sector dialogue around the operational, environmental and workforce challenges shared across ASEAN.
Key Themes Shaping the Region’s FM Landscape
Discussions throughout the day highlighted four critical areas that are increasingly influencing FM expectations in Southeast Asia, including the Philippines:
- Digitalisation and Responsible AI
How data, monitoring tools and AI‑assisted insights are improving decision‑making, performance visibility and service reliability across complex environments.
- ESG and Decarbonisation Through Operations
How day‑to‑day FM tasks influence carbon reduction, energy performance, water management, waste reduction and transparent ESG reporting.
- Inclusive Workplace Design and Wellbeing
How workplaces can be designed and operated to support safety, accessibility, comfort and an improved user experience.
- Professional Standards and Capability Building
How global FM standards and formal governance frameworks strengthen the sector’s ability to operate reliably and sustainably.
Relevance for the Philippines
The Philippines faces many of the same FM dynamics seen across ASEAN: multi‑site portfolios, complex operating environments, growing sustainability pressures and rising expectations around workplace experience. Insights from FM Indonesia Forum 2026 offer a clear reference point as Philippine organisations strengthen FM governance, capability and performance.
Across the region, there is a shared push towards future‑ready facilities management, defined by stronger governance, responsible use of technology, skilled teams and consistent on‑site delivery.
Why the Philippines Is Well‑Positioned to Lead
The country already operates some of Southeast Asia’s most demanding environments, including:
- 24/7 BPO campuses
- large retail and mixed‑use developments
- expanding logistics and distribution hubs
- industrial zones balancing safety, compliance and energy performance
These environments are driving the need for more disciplined, professionalised FM practices. As expectations continue to rise, the Philippines is well‑placed to benefit from regional momentum toward smarter, technology‑enabled FM and stronger operational governance.
“Facilities management is where strategy meets delivery. When workplaces are operated with discipline and good governance, organisations see stronger asset performance, safer environments, and more consistent experiences for the people who use them. At its best, FM helps create workplaces that support human wellbeing, strengthen surrounding communities, and operate responsibly within their environmental context. The Forum is a practical step toward strengthening the FM ecosystem in Indonesia.”
Yohanes Jeffry Johary
President and Managing Director, OCS Indonesia
“Facility management is not an informal practice or a regional concept. It’s a globally recognized profession supported by international standards. We are pleased to join the business community in Indonesia in helping to drive national priorities to drive transformative change.”
Michael V. Geary, CAE
President and CEO IFMA
“Indonesia is IFMA’s next and defining chapter in ASEAN. As the country builds its new capital, expands modern infrastructure and develops a fast-growing FM workforce, Indonesia is creating powerful momentum for higher standards, greater professionalism and the adoption of smarter, technology-enabled FM practices.”
