On 1st September, six of our colleagues ran The Big Half 2024 in support of Pecan, a charity that provides resources and support to those who need in the most.
As part of our contract with Southwark Council, we proudly deliver mechanical and engineering, security and cleaning services across the borough. Recognising Pecan as a crucial resource within Southwark, we’ve chosen them as our charity partner in line with our social value commitments to the council.
What does Pecan do?
Pecan helps those within the local community achieve a better future through a number of different initiatives that aim to help those in poverty:
- Southwark Foodbank provides emergency food parcels.
- Peckham Pantry is a shop that provides £15 worth of food for just £4.50.
- Women’s Service provides gender-specific, trauma-informed advocacy and support for women.
- Together is a group that hosts community and life-skills activities at their café space, tackling loneliness, isolation and poor wellbeing.
- Employment Support helps to get people back into work, through professional guidance and employment skill sessions.
Who took part?
- Kellie Newell (Social Value & Innovation Practitioner)
- Tom Copsey (Director of Resourcing & Talent Management)
- Mark Dakin (Senior Resourcing Advisor – Hard Services & Ireland)
- Marc Anthony (Account Manager)

This is a fantastic demonstration of our TRUE Values in practice, and we say well done to the team!
