The Challenge
Our customer puts its passenger experience at the very top of its priorities. This means they require a comprehensive cleaning service to maintain high standards of cleanliness but also specialist industrial cleaning to bring old and worn-looking areas back to life. Recently our team were tasked with large-scale floor refurbishment throughout the airport duty-free, a notoriously high-traffic area in any airport. Our challenge was to complete a full strip and seal of the Duty-Free floor space without affecting airport operations or the customer experience.
The Solution
We utilised our southern-based specialist industrial cleaning team to carry out this project and as well as our surrounding teams to cover any work required while working on this project.
This project was undertaken at night as the team needed to ensure that footfall was at its lowest, this meant commencing work at one am each night. The floor was divided into sections that would be worked on in stages, leaving the areas that see the most footfall until the final night. This work was time-sensitive, with passengers generally starting to arrive onsite again at 4 am, the team needed to ensure that their work was complete and floors were dry so no footfall would damage the newly sealed floors and to ensure the safety of travellers and airport staff.
Floor stripping and sealing is a specialist task that our team have years of experience in delivering. Using the right equipment is essential but it is the team’s experience that allowed them to deliver the highest quality finish while keeping to tight deadlines and eliminating operational downtime for our customers.
The Outcome
This project was delivered over four nights and completed with no impact on the customer’s operation. The airport floors were fully restored to their previous glory, they now shine and create a clean and modern look throughout the Duty-Free.
The successful delivery of this project and the outcome have resulted in high levels of customer satisfaction. Airport management expressed further confidence in our abilities and this project has only continued to strengthen our partnership.
