OCS Retains Top 5% Position in SIA Approved Contractor Scheme

We are pleased to have achieved a score of 142 in our most recent Security Industry Authority (SIA) Approved Contractor Scheme (ACS) assessment. This result means we have retained our position within the top 5% of accredited contractors, reinforcing the consistently high standards delivered across our security operations.

Setting the Benchmark for Security Excellence

The ACS is the recognised hallmark of quality within the private security industry. Managed by the SIA, the ACS measures performance against a rigorous set of criteria. The criteria cover strategy, operations, leadership, customer service, and colleague development. A score above 128 out of 145 reflects performance in the top 5% of all approved contractors – a distinction that OCS continues to uphold.

This outstanding result follows a comprehensive renewal assessment by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI). It involved detailed interviews with customers and colleagues, site visits, and a thorough review of operational procedures. This confirms that we meet the standards required across our security services, including Security Guarding, Door Supervision, Keyholding, and CCTV operations.

Strengthening People, Processes and Partnerships

OCS’s achievement is rooted in its people-first, purpose-led approach. The latest assessment praised the business for high customer satisfaction and strong colleague engagement.  Additionally, they commended our proactive approach to innovation and continuous improvement.

Highlights noted during the assessment include:

  • A Net Promoter Score (NPS) of 72.58% for customer satisfaction
  • A contract retention rate of 93%
  • An industry-leading labour turnover rate of 1.25%
  • Positive employee satisfaction, driven by enhanced town hall engagement and development opportunities through the OCS Academy
  • A focus on diversity and inclusion through initiatives such as the CHROMA network and the ‘Women in Security’ forum

The assessment also recognised OCS’s commitment to training and development. With over 200 officers undertaking NVQ training, and 80% of security colleagues progressing internally through the business. Collaboration with key partners, including counter-terrorism police and awarding organisations such as NPSA and ProtectUK, further strengthens OCS’s contribution to safer places and resilient communities.

Aligning with national initiatives to boost security standards, OCS actively supports professional development pathways. Recent updates from ProtectUK reinforce the need for competent persons within workplace security. This principle is embedded in OCS’s operational approach through our commitment to accredited learning and counter-terrorism awareness programmes.

Driving Purpose-Led Growth

The assessor’s report commended OCS for our strategic focus on ethical growth. Evidenced by recent acquisitions and a commitment to the company’s TRUE values – Trust, Respect, Unity, and Empowerment.

We continue to invest in technology, environmental sustainability, and social impact, aligning our security operations with broader organisational goals. These include achieving net zero by 2040 through the Science-Based Targets initiative.

Looking Forward

Retaining a Top 5% ACS score is a significant achievement, but for OCS, it is also a platform for further growth and continuous improvement. By building on its BEST pillars – delivering the best Experiences, Productivity, Outcomes, Resilience, and Practices – OCS remains focused on making people and places the best they can be.

As security risks continue to evolve, OCS is committed to strengthening professional standards, investing in colleague development, and supporting customers to create safer, stronger environments for everyone.
