Every year, OCS celebrates colleagues across Australia and New Zealand who embody our TRUE values — Trust, Respect, Unity and Empowerment — through the annual TRUE Stars Awards. These awards honour those who bring our values to life in their mahi, making people and places the best they can be.
From a pool of outstanding nominees, four colleagues (and teams) were recognised as our 2024 annual OCS TRUE Stars:
Trust: Sarin Dhungana, Australia — recognised for his dedication, leadership, and willingness to relocate across the country to support a site in need.
Respect: Pamela Parker, Nelson — acknowledged for her attention to detail, proactive communication, and consistent professionalism.
Unity: The Massey University (Wellington) Team — praised for their teamwork and commitment to quality service during challenging conditions.
Empowerment: Corrina Walker, 1M — commended for her agility and support across multiple areas of the business.
From these four outstanding recipients, one was selected as the OCS ANZ TRUE Star of the Year.
We’re delighted to announce Pamela Parker (Pam) as this year’s winner.
Pam works at Nelson Airport and is known for her hard work and her compassion, humour, and positive outlook. She joined OCS in 2020 and has made a lasting impression on her colleagues, customers, and the travelling public ever since.
Estelle Courtney, National QA Manager, says the OCS team describe her as ‘genuine, thoughtful, and kind.’
“She’s extremely loyal, honest, and quietly committed. She just gets on with the job — not for praise, but because she holds herself to a high standard. We’re lucky to have her.”
The team at Air New Zealand also value Pam’s proactive approach. In an email to OCS, their Nelson Airport Manager wrote:
“We appreciate how helpful and communicative Pam is. Every week she raises things she’s noticed — from ways to reduce waste, to small safety issues, to taps running in the lounge toilets. It’s these little things that help us all do better. We’re grateful for Pam’s continuous improvement mindset.”
Asked what the award means to her, Pam said, “It means a lot – it shows that no matter how behind-the-scenes it might seem, even the quiet jobs matter, and that what we do every day has value.”
Her perspective reflects the pride Pam takes in her work, keeping public spaces clean, safe, and welcoming — not just as a cleaner, but as part of the broader airport team.
“You get people coming up to the kiosk looking a bit lost, and sometimes they ask questions or just need a bit of reassurance,” she says. “There’s a bit of banter, a bit of fun — and you just try to make their day a little easier in your own way.”
Pam knows the work can sometimes be repetitive, but that doesn’t bother her. “Some people might say you’re doing the same thing every day. I just want to do it better.”
Estelle says that attitude is typical of Pam. “She leads by example — not by being loud or showy, but just by quietly doing her best every single day. She brings steadiness, kindness, and humour to the team, and our site is better for it.”
Pam is a reminder that it’s not just what we do, but how we do it that matters. Her commitment to people — whether strangers passing through the airport or colleagues she sees every day — reflects the spirit of OCS.
Congratulations, Pam — and thank you.
