At 1M, OCS New Zealand’s HVAC solutions business, apprenticeships are more than just a training programme; they are the lifeblood of the company’s success. These apprentices, guided by experienced mentors, are dedicated to providing excellent customer service through delivering innovative solutions.
1M are currently supporting 12 apprentices across three types of apprenticeships, delivered in collaboration with tertiary providers Competenz and Te Pukenga. The three apprenticeships are:
- Mechanical Building Services (HVAC installation): This apprenticeship focuses on the installation of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. Apprentices gain hands-on experience in measuring, cutting, and installing a variety of pipes and ducts. Their comprehensive education ensures they become well-rounded experts in HVAC installation.
- HVAC Air Conditioning and Refrigeration (HVAC Service & Maintenance): Focused on the service and maintenance of HVAC systems, apprentices learn to troubleshoot and diagnose HVAC systems, understand electrical schematics, and learn about the latest HVAC technologies. Their expertise ensures seamless operation and optimal performance of these critical systems.
- Electrical Apprenticeships: Electrical theory meets practical skills in this apprenticeship. Apprentices learn about electrical safety, wiring, installation of electrical equipment, and compliance with electrical code.
