                Executive Summary
To support its continued expansion and ensure compliance with modern electrical standards, Edinburgh Airport commissioned a major upgrade of its high-voltage infrastructure. The works centred on the replacement of ageing 11kV substation assets, originally serving the main terminal and wider site operations.
Edinburgh Airport appointed OCS to deliver the works across multiple airside and landside substations. The project involved safely removing and replacing transformers, diesel fuel tanks and associated electrical infrastructure, culminating in the phased installation of a new 15-panel Genie EVO switchboard.
The 12-month programme was completed in 2018, with all works delivered on schedule and within budget.

                The Outcome
The airport now benefits from a modern, high-resilience substation system that supports both current and future demand. The upgrade ensures compliance with current electrical standards and improves efficiency and reliability.
Strong working relationships and mutual trust between the delivery teams and airport personnel played a key role in the success of the project.
