Overview

We pride ourselves on fostering diversity and inclusion within our organisation. Our commitment to diversity goes beyond mere compliance, reflecting a dedication to assembling teams based on merit, succession planning, and extensive experience. The leadership team, led by Managing Director Aine Mulcahy, includes prominent female leaders such as Lorraine O’Neill, Director of Security Services and Gill O’Riordan, Sales & Strategy Director, highlighting our commitment to gender balance and inclusion.

The Challenge

To go beyond a checkbox approach to create a workplace where diversity in thought, background, and experience thrive, while identifying and addressing specific issues affecting the workforce, such as the development of policies like the Menopause Support, Equal Opportunities and Stress Management.

The Solution

We approached these challenges by implementing a comprehensive set of policies and procedures. The development of each policy followed a meticulous path, identifying needs based on changes in the working environment, regulatory requirements, or internal issues. The organisation’s Integrated Management System (IMS) will continue to play a crucial role in disseminating policies, ensuring accessibility, and facilitating communication.

The Outcome

Our commitment to diversity is exemplified by our Security Division Leadership, where accomplished female leaders hold top positions, while our middle management levels reflect international diversity with members from across the UK, Eastern Europe and Middle East. This diverse leadership has resulted in fresh ideas and creative solutions to complex security problems, enhancing the organisation’s overall effectiveness.

Our robust set of policies and procedures cover diverse aspects, including health, well-being, complaints, and working conditions. These policies are communicated companywide, ensuring that every employee understands and follows our global Code of Conduct. Our internal intranet site serves as a central platform for accessing and navigating these policies.

Recognising the importance of education, we invested in training programs and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Knowledge Centre provides valuable resources, including global engagement sessions, toolbox talks, and training programs, ensuring that supervisors and managers have the skills and knowledge to lead inclusively.

OCS acknowledges the presence of unconscious bias but we are taking proactive measures to address it. Through toolbox talks, mandatory training, and awareness events, we will continue to work towards creating awareness and providing tools to recognise and eliminate biases at all levels.

Our talks, training programs, and global engagement sessions emphasise the importance of inclusion, empowering employees to contribute to creating a workplace where everyone feels valued.

Our journey in fostering diversity and inclusion within our operations demonstrates a holistic and committed approach. From leadership representation to policy development, training initiatives, and cultural transformation, we set a benchmark for creating an inclusive and diverse work environment. The positive outcomes extend beyond compliance, contributing to innovation, employee satisfaction, and engagement with the broader communities where OCS operates.
