MoJ Award Win – Service Excellence at 102 Petty France

The Ministry of Justice has recognised the OCS security team at 102 Petty France with a new category honour, the Chief Property Officer’s Choice Award, at this year’s MoJ Property Directorate Staff Awards. The judges also named the team runner-up in the We Work Together Best Contract or Agency category.

These acknowledgements highlight a long-standing partnership built on trust, care and consistent service excellence. They also highlight the professionalism of a team that has supported the MoJ’s London headquarters for 22 years.

Delivering Best Service Excellence Every Day

The security team supports thousands of colleagues and visitors who use 102 Petty France each week. Their work ranges from visible reassurance to complex incident response. They manage front-of-house safety, maintain controlled access, respond to emergencies and support the MoJ’s operational continuity.

Their nomination outlined the scale and frequency of the challenges they handle. Examples include:

→ Responding quickly to aggressive and unwanted intruders
→ Preventing potential injury by removing wind-damaged debris at height
→ Managing property damage caused by individuals carrying weapons
→ Containing floods and leaks to limit disruption
→ Supporting colleagues who need first aid or help evacuating
→ Assisting people who are lost, stuck in lifts or in distress

These tasks go far beyond the expectations of a typical corporate security role. Their calm response and skilled judgement ensure that incidents are handled safely, discreetly and with minimal impact on the MoJ’s important work.

A Team Shaped by Care and Consistency

Led by Security Manager Juan Kotze, the team has built a culture rooted in integrity, reliability and service. Many team members have served the site for years, contributing to a level of continuity that strengthens resilience and builds trust with MoJ colleagues.

Their nomination emphasised their role as a familiar and reassuring presence in a busy building. They demonstrate OCS’s TRUE Values through everyday interactions: offering a warm welcome, supporting colleagues during challenging moments and maintaining an environment where people feel safe to work and visit.

Recognition That Reflects Partnership

The Ministry introduced the Chief Property Officer’s Choice Award this year, and the team became its first recipient. The judging panel recognised their professionalism, their dedication to service and the positive impact they make on the daily experience of MoJ colleagues.

Their runner-up position in the We Work Together category also reflects the strength of collaboration between the MoJ and OCS. The award celebrates coordinated delivery, shared goals and the ability to work as one team.

“Seeing the security team recognised by the Ministry of Justice is a proud moment. They show what consistent, people-centred service looks like and they do it with humility every day. The strength of our partnership with the MoJ is built on trust and shared purpose, and this award reflects that. Juan and the team deserve this recognition, and I am grateful for everything they deliver.”

Creating the Conditions for People to Be Their Best

The award highlights the value of committed colleagues who support public sector environments where safety, confidence and operational continuity matter every day. It also reflects OCS’s approach to Best Service Excellence: bringing together best practice, resilience and genuine care for people.

As the partnership with the MoJ continues, the security team at 102 Petty France will continue to make a difference through their professionalism and dedication, helping people and places be their best.
