Environment
Reducing Impact Through Practical Action
Environmental responsibility at OCS is closely connected to how we deliver services every day. Across Australia and Aotearoa New Zealand, our environmental footprint is shaped by the vehicles we operate, the sites we support, the energy we use and the materials that move through our supply chain.
We focus on understanding where emissions come from, measuring them accurately and making practical improvements over time. That includes reducing fuel use, increasing the proportion of hybrid and electric vehicles, improving waste recovery, supporting renewable electricity and strengthening environmental reporting across the business.
Our environmental performance is independently verified through Toitū Net Carbon Zero certification and supported by ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation, providing customers with confidence in how we measure, manage and report our environmental impacts.
Environmental Priorities
Environmental improvement requires consistent action across operations, supply chains and customer sites. Our focus is on reducing emissions, improving resource efficiency and strengthening the quality of environmental data that supports decision-making.
-
We monitor and manage emissions across our operations, with a focus on practical reductions supported by independent verification and transparent reporting.
-
Fleet remains our largest emissions source. We continue transitioning suitable vehicles while improving fuel efficiency, route planning and driver performance.
-
Aotearoa New Zealand maintains 100% renewable electricity across our operations, while opportunities to increase renewable energy use continue to be explored.
-
Waste reduction programmes help recover valuable materials, improve diversion rates and support customers seeking stronger environmental outcomes.
-
Independent certification, improved data collection and evolving reporting systems support more accurate environmental measurement across the business.
Environmental Performance
Environmental Progress Measured and Verified
During 2025, Aotearoa New Zealand achieved its lowest recorded emissions since reporting began, while emissions intensity remained below baseline levels across the business. Environmental performance continues to be shaped by operational growth, travel requirements and customer needs, with fleet emissions remaining the largest area of focus.
During 2025, OCS Australia continued to build on its environmental reporting and emissions management programmes. Emissions intensity remained below baseline levels, supported by ongoing improvements in fleet management, supplier reporting and operational efficiency. Environmental performance continues to be influenced by business growth, travel requirements and customer needs, with fleet emissions remaining a key area of focus.
Independent Certification Builds Confidence
OCS Australia and New Zealand maintains Toitū Net Carbon Zero certification alongside ISO 14001 Environmental Management accreditation. These independently audited frameworks provide assurance that environmental performance is measured consistently, reported transparently and reviewed regularly to support continuous improvement.
