Diversity, Equity and Inclusion
Our DE&I starting point is that everybody counts
Diversity, equity, and inclusion (DE&I) sit alongside our TRUE Values and shape how we work. We’re a global facilities services business that employs over 130,000 individuals (and over 3,700 in Aotearoa) speaking multiple languages and representing many cultures, religions and beliefs. An inclusive, non-discriminatory approach is a basic expectation of how we operate as a business.
Through our Great Place to Work™ certification, colleagues have reinforced that OCS is a physically safe place to work, where people are treated fairly and with respect, regardless of who they are.
We have a responsibility to acknowledge and respect, the different perspectives our colleagues bring to their work, and to create an environment where those differences are valued. Our approach to DE&I is practical and grounded. It’s about treating people fairly, listening to diverse viewpoints, and continually improving how we support colleagues across the business.
DE&I Commitments
Across Aotearoa, our leaders and teams are responsible for supporting our DE&I commitments in ways that reflect local communities and workplaces.
-
Diversity
Acknowledging and valuing the differences that each individual brings, including differences in ethnicity, gender, age, origin, sexual orientation, education, religion, experience and perspective.
-
Equity
We create opportunities and pathways for all colleagues to access the same advantages. We ensure fairness in treatment, access, opportunity, and advancement for all people while striving to identify and eliminate any barriers or obstacles that might hinder an individual’s progress.
-
Inclusion
Fostering a work environment where all individuals are treated fairly and respectfully, have equal access to opportunities and resources, and can contribute fully to the organisation’s success. Creating a workplace where differences are embraced and everyone is included.
Putting equity into action
We work with specialist organisations to help remove barriers to employment and create opportunities for people who are often under-represented in the workforce.
In Aotearoa, this includes our partnership with Workbridge NZ, supporting jobseekers with disabilities into meaningful employment. In 2025, OCS placed 25 jobseekers through Workbridge across a range of roles.
We also work alongside organisations like the Ministry of Social Development and Work Together Rotorua, a community organisation that supports people facing barriers to work by providing training, work experience and pathways into employment.
This work in Aotearoa is guided by Whiria te Tangata, our cultural strategy, which supports respectful relationships, cultural understanding and a workplace where people feel valued and supported.
Together, these partnerships reflect our commitment to equity, not just in principle, but in how we recruit, support and work alongside people across our business.
