We recognise the importance of fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone has the opportunity to thrive. That’s why the OCS Security Team has launched the Women in Security Working Group — a colleague-led working group designed to support and empower women in the industry.
Championing Women in Security
Security has long been a male-dominated industry, with women making up only 10% to 20% of Security Industry Authority (SIA) licence holders nationwide. Yet increasing female representation not only strengthens teams but also enhances security effectiveness—studies show that diverse teams improve problem-solving and decision-making by up to 20%. Women bring unique perspectives and skills that are invaluable to the sector. Their ability to communicate effectively, manage conflicts, and pay attention to detail enhances overall security operations, contributing to safer and more dynamic working environments. As the security landscape evolves, harnessing these strengths will be key to building a more effective and inclusive workforce.
The Women in Security Working Group is focused on providing opportunities for women in the sector, creating a supportive network, and driving long-term change by addressing barriers to entry and career progression.
Creating a Supportive and Inclusive Culture
The working group is focused on several key areas to support women at every stage of their careers:
- Mentorship – Connecting new and aspiring security professionals with experienced colleagues for guidance and career support.
- Training and Development – Offering specialist training to help women grow their skills and progress into leadership roles.
- Networking Opportunities – Creating spaces for women in security to collaborate, share experiences, and support one another.
- Raising Awareness – Challenging stereotypes and highlighting the impact of women in security through internal and industry-wide campaigns.
Led by Our People
The OCS Women in Security Working Group is being driven by female colleagues within OCS Security, including Aiva Saltyte, Business Support Manager for Security (UK) –
“This is very much an opportunity to make a real impact on the industry by increasing visibility, creating career pathways, and ensuring women have the support to succeed. Security is evolving, and to build a stronger, more effective workforce, we need to challenge outdated perceptions and open up more opportunities for women at all levels. By driving meaningful change, we can help shape a more inclusive and dynamic industry for the future.”
Reinforcing this, Steven Moore, Managing Director for Security (UK) commented –
“Breaking down barriers and creating real opportunities for women in security isn’t just the right thing to do; it’s essential for the future of the industry. A more diverse workforce brings broader perspectives, stronger decision-making, and better outcomes for customers and communities. The Women in Security Working Group is a vital step in ensuring that women not only enter the industry but thrive and progress into leadership roles. OCS is committed to driving meaningful change, ensuring that talent is recognised, developed, and given the platform it deserves.”
By fostering an inclusive and supportive environment, OCS and the Women in Security Working Group are helping to shape the future of security, ensuring more women are encouraged to join the sector and supported in building long-term careers.
