Net Zero Week: Turning Commitment into Action

Net Zero Week is a powerful moment of reflection and action. It’s a time to take stock of the progress we’ve made and, more importantly, to double down on the steps still needed to reduce emissions and build a more sustainable future.

Our Role in the Transition to Net Zero

OCS understands that our role in the transition to net zero goes far beyond compliance or corporate responsibility. As a strategic partner to organisations across the public and private sectors, we directly influence the performance, efficiency, and sustainability of the built environment.

In the energy space, our focus is on delivering practical, measurable outcomes that help our customers meet their decarbonisation goals. From intelligent energy management to asset retrofit and on-site generation, we’re enabling customers to make informed decisions that reduce both carbon emissions and energy cost.

Supporting Energy Innovation Across Sectors

Our journey with the Scottish Courts and Tribunals Service (SCTS) is one example we’re especially proud of. Through focused, collaborative work, we’ve preserved the integrity of historic buildings while futureproofing them for the net zero transition. This means upgrading infrastructure, improving energy efficiency, and ensuring long-term sustainability, all without compromising architectural heritage.

We’re also helping local authorities and academic institutions push the boundaries of energy innovation. and address the fuel poverty issue. We’re integrating solar canopies, EV charging, and battery storage to help decarbonise fleet operations and improve energy resilience. Meanwhile, at the University of Strathclyde, we’ve delivered both high-voltage and low-voltage infrastructure upgrades, supporting their smart grid ambitions and futureproofing the campus as a low-carbon innovation hub.

These projects show what’s possible when deep technical expertise meets place-based strategy. Whether it’s local government or higher education, we’re helping customers align their energy use with net zero goals, while building capacity for long-term carbon and cost savings.

Looking Ahead: Turning Intent into Impact

Net Zero Week also highlights a broader truth: the path to net zero isn’t about a single solution or a one-size-fits-all fix. It’s about collaboration, context, and the ability to understand where emissions come from and how to reduce them effectively.

As we look ahead, our message is simple: we cannot afford to wait. Every building optimised, every system upgraded, every behaviour changed brings us closer to a more sustainable future.

We’re proud to be helping our customers take meaningful steps on their net zero journey — not just this week, but every week.
