OCS Australia and New Zealand have received the Sustainability Leadership Award at Simprosium Sydney, recognising our “consistent and measured approach to environmental improvement across complex customer environments”. It reflects the work of colleagues across Australia and Aotearoa to support customers with better waste outcomes, clearer reporting and stronger operational visibility.
Simprosium brought together Simpro customers, partners and industry specialists to explore the theme of ‘turning chaos into clarity.’ A timely setting to highlight the growing importance of clean, connected data — particularly when reporting waste volumes, planning resources, and supporting customer transparency.
The award also reflects a broader industry shift toward clearer reporting, responsible operations and technology-supported decision-making — areas where OCS has been steadily progressing across the region.
This recognition builds on work already underway at OCS, where teams continue to support waste diversion, improve reporting accuracy, and strengthen data foundations that help customers understand their environmental performance. It also acknowledges the role technology can play in supporting these outcomes without overstating its influence.
Supporting customers’ environmental ambitions
OCS was nominated by Urvashi Bhula, Senior Customer Success Manager at Simpro, who noted the impact of our work across multiple sustainability priorities:
“OCS [was] nominated for their standout leadership in embedding sustainability into the core of their facilities management operations.
“Their Sustainability Report highlights two major initiatives that truly set them apart: the ongoing work to electrify their fleet to significantly reduce carbon emissions, and the implementation of comprehensive waste-diversion programmes in partnership with clients to support a circular economy.
“OCS is raising the bar for environmental responsibility within the facilities management sector, proving that large organisations can drive meaningful change at pace and scale. Their measurable results, forward-thinking strategy, and industry-leading achievements make them an exceptional candidate for this award.”
— Urvashi Bhula, Senior Customer Success Manager, Simpro
Across Australia and New Zealand, OCS continues to embed practical, evidence-led improvements into our operations, focusing on strengthening local programmes that support emissions reduction and waste diversion.
Examples include:
- AUT lifting diversion rates from 18–20% to around 45–50%, supported by on-site sorting, accurate stream-level reporting, and transparent data that helps decision-makers track progress and plan for future improvements. ocs.com/nz/customer-stories/driving-waste-diversion-and-sustainability-at-aut/
- Auckland International Airport, where we manage several tonnes of regulated and non-regulated waste each day through processes that enable the recovery of recyclables and prepare the operation for expanded material capture over time. ocs.com/nz/customer-stories/auckland-airport-a-decade-of-evolving-waste-solutions/
These partnership models support customers with their own emissions and circularity goals.
Kasa Taufa, SAP Solutions and Master Data Manager, accepted the award on behalf of OCS.
“Good sustainability decisions rely on clean, connected data. When our systems speak the same language, our teams can work with more confidence — from reporting volumes accurately to planning resources across different sites.
“Managing data at scale across Australia and New Zealand isn’t simple, but alignment across our platforms helps us build the clarity needed to support customers’ goals and understand where improvements can be made.”
