Australia is leading the first United Nations Indoor Air Quality Global Pledge – an initiative that formally recognises clean indoor air as a basic human right. Led by the Australian Academy of Science and the Burnet Institute, the pledge brings together more than 300 global leaders and 150 businesses to improve indoor air quality across workplaces, schools, hospitals, and public spaces.
Poor air quality can make people sick. Australians spend about 90% of their time indoors, yet many spaces still lack proper ventilation, filtration, and monitoring. This can increase the spread of illness, affect breathing conditions, and reduce concentration.
At OCS Australia, our colleagues play an important part in supporting healthier indoor spaces. Across hundreds of sites each day, they deliver infection prevention, hygiene management, and specialist cleaning that help reduce airborne risks and improve the quality of the air people breathe.
How OCS supports indoor air quality
- Infection prevention & hygiene: Cleaning protocols that reduce airborne contaminants and surface pathogens.
- Eco-friendly products: Reducing VOC’s (Volatile Organic Compounds) by prioritising low-emission, environmentally responsible cleaning products, avoiding harmful chemicals that can degrade air quality.
- Specialist cleaning: Including HVAC filter cleaning and high-level dust removal to reduce particulate matter and allergens.
- Data-driven cleaning specifications: We tailor our services to meet each facility’s specific needs, ensuring optimal cleanliness and air quality.
- Training & compliance: Our colleagues are trained in best practices aligned with industry standards, delivering consistent and safe outcomes.
As Australia takes this step on the world stage, OCS is proud to support healthier, safe and more resilient spaces. Guided by TRUE Values – Trust, Respect, Unity, Empowerment – we remain focused on making people and places the best they can be.
