OCS Malaysia Awarded High-Voltage Operations Contract for New Data Centre Substation in Johor
A modern data center with rows of server racks, bright overhead lighting, reflective floors, and a glowing light source at the far end, creating a high-tech, futuristic atmosphere.

OCS Malaysia has been appointed to operate a new data centre development in Johor. The contract strengthens OCS Malaysia’s capability in regulated technical environments and supports the country’s growing role as a strategic hub for regional digital infrastructure.

The data centre requires stable and uninterrupted power, supported by a high‑voltage asset that must meet stringent national safety and compliance standards. OCS will provide a full on‑site operations team to manage day‑to‑day performance and system reliability.

Local Expertise in a Highly Regulated Environment

High‑voltage operations in Malaysia are governed by the Electricity Supply Act, Suruhanjaya Tenaga (ST) competency requirements and Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) codes of practice. For international data centre operators, navigating these frameworks requires local technical expertise and a thorough understanding of statutory expectations.

OCS Malaysia will deliver certified engineering leadership to support:

  • ECOS registration and competency compliance
  • PTW processes and safety governance
  • Operational alignment with TNB-approved procedures
  • Documentation and record‑keeping for regulatory audits

This ensures that the substation operates in line with Malaysian standards throughout construction, commissioning and steady‑state operations.

Scope of Work

The OCS Malaysia team, comprising full‑time engineering professionals, will oversee:

  • 24/7 operations control and monitoring
  • Routine inspections across electrical, mechanical and HVAC systems
  • Preventive and predictive maintenance
  • Incident response and escalation procedures
  • PTW control and high‑voltage safety management
  • Configuration management and technical documentation
  • Vendor supervision and maintenance quality assurance
  • Weekly and monthly reporting for transparency and compliance

Collectively, this structured, evidence-led approach supports safe and reliable power delivery to the data centre.

Supporting Malaysia’s Digital and Energy Transition

As Malaysia attracts more hyperscale and enterprise data centre investments, the importance of resilient electrical infrastructure continues to increase. In response, OCS Malaysia remains committed to supporting national growth by providing operational assurance across essential services and regulated technical environments.

The contract reinforces OCS’ role in maintaining safe, compliant and reliable operations for critical infrastructure assets nationwide.
