Scottish charity, ‘It’s Good 2 Give’ is an independent charity supporting children and young people with cancer, in practical ways, at their time of need.
ASAMK was thrilled to be involved with this iconic project and help the client achieve their vision, creating a relaxing home to escape from the stress and physical challenges of the illness.
It is a low carbon building, which uses an air source heat transfer system to supply heating and hot water in a sustainable manner. Underfloor heating provides the primary heat source throughout public areas, bedrooms and en-suites, creating a constant, comfortable air temperature.
The centre, is now known as ‘Ripple Retreat’ – reflecting the wave
profile of its fascia. This exceptional design was the brainchild of Tony Kettle (who also designed one of Scotland’s most famous engineering landmarks; the Falkirk Wheel).
