Executive Summary

A leading private healthcare provider in Thailand, recognised for delivering advanced clinical care and patient safety. As part of its long-term commitment to international best practices, the hospital adopted Joint Commission International (JCI) standards to benchmark quality across all operations.

Maintaining JCI accreditation requires a structured, audit-ready environment where patient safety and regulatory compliance are embedded into every process. This hospital continues to set the standard for healthcare in the region, prioritising risk management, infection control, and operational continuity across its facilities.

The Brief

OCS has been a trusted partner for over 17 years, providing cleaning, environmental services, and engineering support. Our role began before the hospital’s first JCI accreditation and has expanded significantly as compliance requirements evolved.

Key challenges included:

Aligning facilities management processes with JCI domains, particularly Environment of Care (ENV) and Facility Management and Safety (FMS).
Implementing risk-zoned cleaning and waste management protocols that meet international standards.
Ensuring staff competency through structured training, drills, and documentation.
Delivering uninterrupted service during audit periods while supporting internal mock surveys and pre-audit exercises.

Our Approach

OCS deployed a multi-step compliance strategy to meet and maintain JCI standards by implementing zone-based cleaning protocols tailored to clinical risk categories and integrating infection control measures such as calibrated cleaning frequencies, approved chemicals, and appropriate PPE. Waste management processes included end-to-end traceability for both hazardous and general waste to meet audit requirements.

Staff underwent regular drills, SOP certification, and competency sign-offs to ensure operational readiness. OCS also participated in joint audits and mock surveys to prepare for official inspections, while engineering teams aligned preventive maintenance schedules with clinical operations to minimise risks and maintain infrastructure reliability.

The Outcome

OCS played a critical role in enabling the hospital to achieve and sustain JCI accreditation across multiple audit cycles.

Results include:

Full compliance in ENV and FMS domains with all SOPs documented and audit-ready.
Positive auditor feedback on OCS processes and staff competency.
Zero service disruptions during accreditation activities.
Expanded service scope from cleaning to engineering services, including critical system maintenance and uptime management.
